The story about Cirtex Hosting is nothing but a classic success story. A young Shanghai-born entrepreneur by the name of John moves to New York, starts Cirtex in 2003 and since then it has grown into a multi-million dollar company. Of course I was eager to check it out for myself. I chose to try the basic plan for this review.
Value for Money
The basic plans starts at $2.99 per month if you sign up for a 24 month plan which is somewhere around, if not even a bit below, industry standard. The more advanced plans costs around $6.99 - $11.99 and then you have to sign up for 36 months. However, for this test I went with the basic plan so let’s see if there any hidden/added fees that you should be aware of. First of all, the billing cycle for the 24 months cost me $2.99 so that’s not really anything to talk about. If you’re going to setup an e-shop you might want to consider getting a dedicated IP Address which costs $21 per year – for small websites this is not as necessary. If you want to avoid spammers by hiding your contact info you will have to add another $10 dollars to the bill. A domain is included for free if you choose the 36 month plan but it won’t show until you hit checkout so don’t worry about having to pay $15 per year as it might look like at first.
Cirtex has both a 99.9% uptime guarantee and a 30 days money back guarantee which is somewhat of industry standard nowadays. When checking up their uptime myself I found out that their average uptime for the last five years is around 99.837% meaning that you can be sure that this is a reliable web host.
Support
There are several ways to get in contact with the support team and for this test I decided to use the live chat function. I asked them three questions that I would grade from easy to difficult. The first question was no problem at all. The second question however – is there a limit on the size of email attachments – was a little trickier for the man behind in the support team and he had to connect me with another member of the support team. I can’t really complain about this as it took less than a minute to get a reply from the new person. The difficult question was not match either. My overall feeling is that their support team is knowledgeable, friendly and responsive.
· Phone
· Live Chat Support
· Skype
· Email
· Trouble ticket
As you see there are a lot of options to choose between when it comes to contacting the support team.
Ease of use
Cirtex Hosting uses a very easy and user-friendly control panel. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first time you’re setting up a website or if you already know the basics, everyone will understand how it works.
Everything is divided into comprehensible boxes and there are plenty of video tutorials to choose between if you would need a little extra help.
We like
· That it’s user-friendly
· The support team
· All the plans are affordable and feature-packed
Important to know
· Not for those looking for dedicated hosting
Summary
Cirtex Hosting is one of those web hosts that I believe most
will be satisfied with. No, they’re not for the major
websites but other than that they cover pretty much
everything. Getting started was easy and overall feeling was
a user-friendly web host.Unlike many other web hosts I got a very personal feeling
from the support team which is a big plus in my book. I like
knowing that there are actual people working at the company,
rather than an automatic response bot.
